La audacia de Elena Mancinelli consiste en establecer un diálogo entre estos clásicos con la obra del psicoanalista francés Jacques Lacan en una articulación profundamente original y altamente fructífera que produce rigurosas formulaciones y novedosos puntos de vista.La elección de la obra de Jacques Lacan como matriz de lectura en particular las nociones de goce y discurso del Amo se revela como un elemento en extremo prolífico e insoslayable que permite el cuestionamiento del problema del Bien. Esta decisión permite mostrar cómo el discurso del Amo puede encontrar puntos de inestabilidad en las propias obras de Platón y Aristóteles (en un contrapunto brillante con Sócrates y Antígona) y problematizar, asimismo, las figuras del lazo social. De esta forma, si Platón y Aristóteles ocupan el lugar del Nombre del Padre en la Filosofía Política, a través de una herencia que se remonta a la filología clásica, la lectura de Mancinelli permite trasladarse hacia la praxis lacaniana como un modo de desplazamiento de esa primacía. Por ello, este libro se inserta plenamente en la Teoría Política pero, al mismo tiempo, la subvierte como un modo de pensar una nueva política por venir. La anti-filosofía política lacaniana no es una anti-política sino, al contrario, la reconsideración del sentido mismo de toda política.En este libro, Mancinelli logra el acto excepcional de someter a la propia Teoría Política a una suerte de psicoanálisis de sus presupuestos: el resultado, a través de Sócrates en la posición de analista y de Antígona como discurso del no-todo, permite el aflorar de lo femenino desestabilizante.
