Sendo os Camarões parte de convenções regionais e internacionais, existe um grande envolvimento das instituições comunitárias e internacionais no reforço da gestão das pescas nos Camarões. Apesar do sistema de monitorização, controlo e vigilância do sector das pescas implementado pelo governo, este sector, que é um dos pilares da economia do país, está a enfrentar numerosos problemas no seu desenvolvimento efectivo.
