Le terme 'difficultés d’apprentissage' est utilisé pour décrire un ensemble de troubles qui entravent la capacité d’une personne à communiquer ou à apprendre... Une catégorisation simple des différents types de difficultés d’apprentissage est la suivante : - Difficultés d’élocution ; - Difficultés d’écriture ; - Troubles visuo-cinétiques ; - Difficultés de langage mathématique. Le programme suivi au cours de cette étude comprenait cinq (5) enfants qui étaient des élèves de l’école primaire. L’approche pédagogique pour chacun de ces élèves était différente... On lui a demandé de mettre la semoule sur la syllabe rapidement avant que la colle ne sèche. Après avoir mis une quantité suffisante de semoule, elle devait secouer le papier sur le bureau pour enlever la semoule superflue... Après des mois de tests et de déceptions, la méthode d’apprentissage de Jassan a été trouvée. Au lieu de dire à l’enfant : 'Si tu faisais plus souvent preuve de l’attention nécessaire et que tu n’hésitais pas, tu aurais mieux réussi à l’école', il serait plus efficace de lui dire : 'Je pense que tu fais des efforts, mais je pense que le problème vient peut-être du fait que les moyens que tu utilises pour apprendre ne sont pas les meilleurs'. Peu importe le retard pris par un enfant dans son apprentissage, il est encouragé à ne pas s’arrêter. TOUS LES ENFANTS PEUVENT !!!
