Captain Macdonald: Or Haps And Mishaps At Capias Castle is a novel written by John Lang and published in 1856. The story revolves around Captain Macdonald, a retired army officer who inherits Capias Castle, a dilapidated estate in Scotland. He decides to renovate the castle and make it his home. However, he soon realizes that the castle is haunted by the ghost of a former owner, who was murdered in the castle. Captain Macdonald sets out to solve the mystery of the murder and lay the ghost to rest. Along the way, he encounters various mishaps and adventures, including a romantic entanglement with a local heiress.
