Poiché Gesù è venuto a compiere la legge e i profeti tra gli ebrei, si sostiene che abbia fatto lo stesso con gli africani. Giovanni Battista mette in dubbio l’attuabilità dell’ascendenza ebraica in vista della venuta del Messia. San Paolo ha sostenuto che sia gli ebrei che i gentili sono figli di Abramo sulla base della fede attraverso la quale Abramo è stato giustificato da Dio. Gesù compie, sostituisce e diventa l’unico mediatore. In lui si compie il ruolo degli antenati africani, che in lui si realizzano. Mentre gli occidentali si sono relazionati con i loro antenati nel corso della storia, gli africani lo hanno fatto in modo rituale. Il Dio di Gesù è anche il Dio dei nostri antenati e, attraverso le loro tradizioni di saggezza che affermano la vita, anche loro hanno servito il Dio vivente. Sono i morti viventi nel Dio vivente.
