Il progetto ha analizzato il processo di legittimazione dei droni da parte degli Stati Uniti, utilizzando gli strumenti di Ian Clark su come il processo si svolge nella società internazionale. In questo modo, il progetto mostra come gli Stati Uniti, legittimando la loro politica sui droni, stiano sottilmente suggerendo cambiamenti nelle leggi internazionali già stabilite. Con l’aiuto dell’indicatore di Clark, il progetto analizza il discorso di legittimazione dei droni pronunciato da Harold Koh, l’allora consulente legale dell’amministrazione Obama. Il risultato di questo processo viene poi confrontato con i risultati di ciò che la legittimità dei droni significa per la società intenzionale, ovvero l’Assemblea generale delle Nazioni Unite, la Corte di giustizia internazionale e il Comitato della Croce Rossa internazionale.
