A murder mystery: A poet and a painter are living and working in an isolated house two miles from the nearest village in rural America. Far down the hill from them is an ordinary house with a man and his vicious dog. One day they are attacked by the dog as they are walking from their stroll in the surrounding woods. Once home, the painter contacts the local Dog Warden who promises to visit them., but that evening, their telephone suddenly stops working, then a rock comes bursting through one of their windows, followed by a night of increasing terror and escalating horror. Who is attacking them? And why did the Dog Warden never show up? Is this the start of a new American Civil War? 'What the hell is going on in America?' as one of the characters asks.

They have a Biblical, musical swing to them-they feel and sound like bluesy Psalms written by you, Frederick, to a lover of considerable power. That beloved se...
