Im Mittelpunkt dieses Buches steht eine Studie, die den Prozess der Bewältigung des Wandels in der Lehrerbildung an fünf privaten Universitäten in Kenia untersuchte. Die Studie ergab, dass folgende Faktoren den Wandel vorantrieben: der Bedarf an Qualität in der Lehrerausbildung, neue Themen wie HIV/AIDS, Technologie, Globalisierung, Marktkräfte und die Kenia Vision 2030. Das Managementteam hielt sich bei der Umsetzung der Veränderungen an ein ordnungsgemäßes Verfahren und suchte in bestimmten Fällen nach alternativen Wegen. Der Mann-Whitney-U-Test ergab, dass es einen statistisch signifikanten Unterschied zwischen der Beteiligung der Lehrerausbilder und der Lehramtsstudenten am Veränderungsprozess gab. Die Spearman-Rho-Korrelationskoeffizienten zwischen dem Grad der Beteiligung von Lehrerausbildern und Lehramtsstudenten und der Bewertung der Bewältigung des Wandels waren ebenfalls signifikant. Faktoren, die den Veränderungsprozess erleichterten, waren: das Engagement für die Verbesserung des Lernens der Schüler, die Verpflichtung zu einer strategischen Lehrplanänderung und alternative Strategien führten zu einer effektiven Bewältigung des Wandels, während Überlastung, unzureichende Informationen, fehlende Ausbildung und Ressourcen ein Hindernis darstellten.
